With Heartfelt Thanks card - Couture Creations

Hello hello on this lovely March Day.  Where is the year going? 
Days are flying by and before we know it Winter will be here (and i say bring it on!)

Here in Queensland we are about to start our Easter school holidays, which also means the Easter Bunny is close!  Next Term my son will be starting a new school, so I've made a Thank You card for one of his teachers using our gorgeous Magnolia Lane range.  For something a little different I've used bright & vibrant colours - it shows just how versatile this range really is. 

 Don't get me wrong, I adore the colours in Magnolia Lane. But I also love using the collection dies embossing folders & stamps to create with any colour you want.  Which is exactly what i've done with my card today.  Sunflowers are my favourite flower.  So it seems only natural that my favourite colour is bright yellow.  

 So let's get crafting!
 
I'll all for getting more for my dollar and using my products & tools in as many ways as possible.
Here I've ink the top of my embossing folder with white ink, and then run it through my Big Shot as normal. Effectively I've made my embossing folder into a 3d stamp! I love how this technique adds more dimension to the embossed pattern. 
White ink on top of embossing folder. Just swipe lightly.  
Try not to get any ink in the pattern indentions. 
 Cut your cardstock to size and place in the embossing folder as normal. 
 Carefully take out the embossed cardstock, and admire your handiwork! 
Using the white ink also gives it an understated chalky look. 
I have been itching to use this beautiful rose and leaf die called 'Rose Cutting'. 
It''s so intricate and detailed, I can see this becoming a favourite in my collection. 
And by using Quick Release Die paper, you'll have crisp cuts and images that fall out of the dies. 
I've cut one each of the solid background & rose petals in yellow cardstock, and 3 of the leaves in green cardstock.  I've attached the two pieces of the flower together by using very thin lines of glue using the Turbo Precision Glue pen in the middle of the flower. This means I can bend the flower and give it a more realistic shape rather than being flat.
To construct the card, I've placed a piece of double sided tape in the middle of the top third of the card and laid a piece of white gauze, gently scrunched on top. 
Using mini glue spots, I've stuck the leaves on, and then the flower on top of them which was mounted on foam tape.  On top of the flower I've used one of the large pearls from the Bling Flourish and Pearls set. 
 Towards the bottom of the card, under the flower, I've added a stamped sentiment (from the Songbird set) on green cardstock and a piece of white lace has been folded in half and placed on the back with double sided tape.  The sentiment has been mounted on foam tape.
And we're done!  A  bright & happy thank card that will hopefully makes someones day. 
I really think there is something so special about giving and receiving handmade cards.

My Sunshine - Couture Creations

Welcome to another day of crafting at Couture Creations.
I have more of the beautiful Magnolia Lane Collection to share with you today.
This range is just so delightful to create with, I have it out on my desk permanently.

So on to today's project!
I've created this layout of 'my little sunshine' using 12 x12 papers, off cuts from 6x6 papers, & various matching embellishments from the Magnolia Lane range.
To add some texture and interest to the background page I've added some white gesso over a stencil and once dry blotted some pink distress ink over the impression.  I really love the way you can still see the script pattern through the gesso and ink/
I've then matted the pattern paper on two coordinating colours of Ultimate Crafts cardstock.
Before adhering with double sided tape, I've distressed each edge with my non-stick scissors.
My square photo has been firstly matted on an offcut from the 6x6 paper pad, and then placed in the upper right corner of  a 12x12 piece of 'Magnolia Borders'.  I had actually punched some circles from this paper previously, but now the photo has covered the circles you'd never know!
I've also distressed and inked each edge of the mats. And don't forget to distress your photo too!
On the back of the photo mat, I've placed three strips of White Lace along the bottom edge,
securing with double-sided tape.
Here's a great way to way to use up your paper scraps & offcuts - make them into banners!
I've simply gathered strips of patterned paper, cut banner points on one end and arranged in a fan shape.  To hold papers together I've secured with a few mini staples (secures very quickly).  This allows you to select the placement on your layout prior to using adhesive.
In the end I actually liked my banners turned over the other way , as I really liked the pop of green - explore all your options! I stuck down the banners with double sided tape, and then added some foam mounting tape to the back of my photo mat for some dimension.
To the right hand side of my photo I've added my embellishments.  A card from the Die Cut Ephemera pack was mounted on foam tape and placed just under the photo mat, while the bird cage was secured with double sided tape.  I've adhered the Magnolia Flower with 3D Glue spots near the corner of the photo, along with the metal trinklet & bling flourish.  The three butterflies were mounted on 3D Foam dots and I added to the embellishment cluster and on top of the bird cage.
I've added a small sticker title from my stash, and the layout is complete.

**OUT TAKE** Not to be outdone by Georgie Cat's cameo appearance last year, Jessie Cat decided she too wanted in on the blog action.  Unfortunately she was not willing to show her face for the camera, going for a mysterious/side profile shot.

Thinking of You - Couture Creations

Thanks for stopping by the Couture Creations blog today. 
Tracey R here to share the Magnolia Lane love!  Have you seen our brand new collection at your local shop yet?  I can assure you it's even prettier in person. It's been very popular so don't leave it too long to get yours or you may just miss out! 

Today I've sharing this card I made to send as a 'With Sympathy/Thinking of You" card to a friend who recently lost a family member. 
I've used a piece of the 6x6 Magnolia Lane paper pad & the DieCut Ephemera pack. 
Firstly I've cut down a piece of pink & floral bordered 6x6 paper slightly smaller than my card, and inked the edges blue. I've then mounted the paper on 18mm foam tape to give 
the card front some dimension.  Next I've placed a piece of 6mm doubled sided tape in the middle of the patterned paper to secure a piece of gauze.  (This won't be seen).  
With over 40 pieces in the Diecut Emphemera pack you have so many pieces to choose from - it's a great addition to your stash.  I've chosen a rectangular Magnolia card, 3 butterflies and an extra Magnolia flower. 
I've added more foam tape to the Magnolia card and placed it on top of the gauze in the centre of the card.  I've then placed the single Magnolia flower over the flower on the card to make it look 3D.  I've  secured this with a 3D Foam Dot. I've added the Butterflies around the flower with Mini 3D Foam dots to raise them up.  
Finally I've added Cornflower Blue 3mm pearls in each corner of the Magnolia Card, and a Crystal 2mm Gemstone to the centre of the Magnolia.  
 
 Hope you like the card.  I love how versatile the Magnolia Lane Collection is.

A Smile is a Memory - Couture Creations.

Hello crafty friends!
Thanks for stopping by the Couture Creations Blog today. 

 I was beyond excited to finally use the newest release Magnolia Lane this month. Sue Smyth has designed such a gorgeous collection - you're going to find it hard not to want all of it! The colours & patterns are so pretty, and all the matching embellishments make this a must have in your stash. 

 So let's get crafting!

 When I first looked through the papers, this blue clock & script paper kept catching my eye. So that was the perfect place to start.  My gorgeous Miss 12 isn't a real girly girl (she actually isn't that fond of pink!) so the blues matched her & her personality perfectly. 
 Starting with the 12x12 piece Timeless Garden (from the 12x12 paper pad) I've stamped the round map from the Timeless Garden 4x6 inch Stamp set multiple times in a light grey ink down the right hand side of the paper. 
Next I've mounted my photo on matching Ultimate Crafts card stock, and then added different and random sizes of patterned paper cut from the Magnolia Lane 6x6 paper pad.  I've also inked around the patterned paper edges for contrast.  
 
Once I was happy with the position of the patterned papers I've stuck them down using 6mm double sided tape.  I've then matted the photo and patterned papers onto another piece of the blue cardstock, and distressed around the edges with my non-stick scissors.  
 ** TIP **
One of my favourite adhesives are the 3D Foam Dots. So what do you do with the left over backing once you finished the packet? You use it!  It's PERFECT to use as mounting!  I just cut the size i want and use it as a mount (it's super for larger pieces).  You use it exactly as you'd use your foam dots.  Remove the backing piece from one side, place down, and the remove the other side. 
And best of all you have just got more for your dollar from something you'd normally throw away. 
 After adding the mounting foam for height, I've placed a piece of 18mm doubled side tape along the bottom of the cardstock.  Along this I've pleated roughly a piece of the black lace.  To ensure that the lace is secured I've put another piece of the 18mm tape on the top which will attach the lace to the layout.
 The mounted photo with lace is then placed on the layout in the lower right hand corner. 
The Bling Flourishes with Pearls in this collection are just gorgeous! So to get as much use as possible I've cut them, and only used a portion of each flourish - use your product how you want!
 In the bottom right hand corner of the photo I've added 3 embellishments on top of some gauze (a butterfly from the Ephemera pack, a metal trinket  and a paper magnolia) attaching these with 3D Foam dots.  On each of the embellishment cluster side I've placed the bling flourishes. 
 Along the top of the photo mat I've tucked some cut aparts from a piece of the 6x6 Paper Pad, using 6mm double sided tape on the back.
 Finally I've added a Resin Frame to the top left corner of the photo. 
  And we're done.  


 
I adore this beautiful Magnolia Lane collection.

Flower Girl - Couture Creations


And hello there crafty friends! 
Nice of you to pop by and visit us here on the Couture Creations blog. 

Are you as excited as I am by all the recent CHA updates and releases? 
My golly GOSH!  It sends crafters (me included) into a frenzy! I can't wait to get the new products and start creating with them.  If you did miss out on any of our exciting updates, have a look

One of my most favourite things about crafting is that there is no right or wrong.  
There really isn't a "Craft Rule Book" that you need to follow.  Pretty much anything goes!
And I love being able to use things in ways they weren't necessarily designed for. 
 Every time I use my Quick Release Die Paper I admire how pretty it is, and how the pattern would look lovely on the background of a layout. 

So that's exactly what I've used as my background "patterned paper" & teamed it with darling little doilies from the Perfectly Petite Doilies Die Collection. 
And I just love how it's turned out! 
I probably mention most posts just how AMAZING this paper is.  
It's without a doubt a game changer. And here is another use! 
I've cut a length of Quick Die Release Paper longer than my white 12x12 Ultimate Crafts white card stock. Approx. 16inches long.  I've then pleated the end of the paper, and cropped off any excess. 
The only thing with using the Quick Release Die Paper like this, is that it's meant to be 'non-stick', so doubled sided tape isn't going to hold it.  I've used the 15mm Jumbo Tip 2 Way glue stick around the edges and also attached some mini staples.  
I've mounted my photo on layers of cardstock and vellum and then a final layer of Quick Release Die Paper. So that it sticks to the white cardstock background, and I've stapled a small square of off cut cardstock to the photo mats and mounted on foam tape. 
Using a piece of 18mm doubled sided tape I've pleated some gold tissue paper from under the photo to the edge of the page.  I had some white card stock form another project that had been sprinted with gold, so have cut 18 doilies (using your Quick Release Paper!) and adhered them to the right hand side of the layout, in the pleats and around the photo.  The majority were adhered with doubled sided tape, and a few with 3D Mini Foam Dots to add some depth & dimension.          
                      
Who doesn't love a doiley? There are 12 gorgeous designs in Perfectly Petite Doilies range - it's so hard to choose which ones to use! I've chose 4 that complimented each other, but were still different. 
I've printed my journalling, cut into strips and placed on the layout with 6mm double sided tape.  With the accent strip, I've mounted the words on 3D Foam Strips, on top the gold tissue paper which had 6mm double sided tape on the back.  I've added my favourite 2mm Crystal Gemstones on either side of the word strips, 3 to the top of my photo, and to a few of the side doilies.
All that's left is to add a title, and you're done. 

So I'm here today to remind you to step outside of the box, follow your own rules and look at things in a different way.  You never know what you might use!
