Couture Creations 2016/17 Design Team Audition

I've feel so fortunate to have been part of the 2015/2016 Design Team for
Couture Creations.  Several beautiful new collections have been released, including Magnolia Lane from our very own design team member Sue SMYTH!   It's been such a fantastic experience.  And I'd love to continue working with this Australian Company if given a chance.

Below are my 5 Audition projects.

CARD 1

I've embossed a black piece of card stock letterpress style with white ink,
and then added gemstones in 3 colours.

CARD 2

I've made my own patterned paper with stamps and then embossed with music embossing folder. I've die cut 3 banners in vellum and embellished with white lace, die cut leaves, a magnolia flower and metal trinket.

CARD 3

I've die cut several roses and mounted one with the background on foam tape.
I've added gemstones to each flower and either side of the sentiment.

LAYOUT 1

I've added a border die cuts as well as the quick release paper from the cuts along each edge of the patterned paper.   I've used a large decorative die to the top right, and 2mm gemstones around the photo.  I've clustered black die cut leaves with Couture Creations flowers coloured with black Glitzin' Glamour on the bottom right of the page.

LAYOUT 2

I've layered strips of border die cuts behind my matted photo and placed gemstones along the pattern.  I've tucked trailing flourish die cuts behind my flowers, that have been gold Glitzin' Glamoured (yep that's a word now!)

With Couture Creations & Ultimate Crafts continuing to expand their presence overseas in the coming year, it would truly be an honour to remain an ArtDeco Ambassador and be able to go on sharing & promoting my love for their products.

Good luck to all auditionees!
I can only imagine how hard it will be to choose the final Design Team.

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a great day....and go do something crafty!

So Succulent with Couture Creations

#couturecreationsaus

Hi and welcome to Couture Creations today.
Thanks for joining us.

I just love weddings, especially love all the little details.
I was so excited to attend a gorgeous "pop up paddock" wedding earlier this year for
a wonderful couple.  There was a strong sense of vintage throughout the day,
but the hero and show stoppers of the day was the succulents. Hundreds of them!
The bride had lovingly potted and nurtured these little plants to decorate the ceremony and reception.
But the ones that stood out the most for me, were the ones on top of the cake
(Can i just say - that she made! She's a true amazing woman. Big shout out to you Rach!!)

Looking through the photos again, the deep purples and greens reminded me
of our beautiful Hearts Ease collection and was the inspiration for my layout today.

So let's get crafting!

I started by selecting my papers from the Hearts Ease Collection
It matched so perfectly it was hard to narrow it down!

I decided on the purple diamond pattern, a two tone stripe and a green for contrast and to bring out those gorgeous greens in the succulents.

I matted the main photo on several layers of the patterned Hearts Ease papers
and also added some vellum to break up the colours.

To create my background, I've stencilled modelling paste on to a piece of Core'dinations White cardstock, and dried with dried with the Couture Creations Heat tool.  Love this!
When it was all dry I've added gold spritz on top using some plastic packaging (waste not want not!).

To add some extra sparkle to the layout and to finish off the background, I've applied Aztec Gold Glitzin' Glamour over the modelling paste and gold spritz.

I've added added a strip of music paper behind both photos. and placed them on the layout

I wanted to add another pop of green near the photo, so I added a small strip under the main mat.
To embellish the bottom of my page, I've made banners in various sizes from the same papers used matting my photoes.

Under the smaller photo of the cake I've placed three of the new Couture Creations white flowers with Aztec Gold Glitzin' Glamour on top of some gauze. I used one full English Rose (3.5cm) on the left hand side, but as i wanted smaller flowers I've used the middle of the Camden Cottage Roses for this project (they rip apart easily) and will used the outer petals on another project.
To add some dimension to the flowers, I used 3D Glue Spots to adhere them to the page.

I've cut three of the new Tall Flourish die from the new Secret Garden Collection,
and placed one above the photo and 2 tucked under the flowers.
A die like this is when your Quick Release Paper really comes into its own!!
Cutting these fine lines is so easy and the cuts are so intricate and delicate.
I have to say it's becoming one of my favourites.

After adding the flowers and gauze to the lower left of the layout, I wanted more gauze and tucked in some around the main photo to add some interest and soften the lines.
Final touch was to add the title with letter stickers.

And we're done!

Key To My Heart - Couture Creations

#couturecreationsaus

Hi there crafters!
Thanks for joining us again today at Couture Creations.

Today I'm excited to share a layout about my son & I.   This is my current favourite photo of us.
In just a few days, this handsome young man turns 14.  Hang on...14?
I'm astounded how quickly the years have gone. It seems like yesterday
I became a mum and held this tiny newborn in my arms for the first time.
He stole my heart then, and well & truly still has the key to my heart.

So Happy Birthday my wonderful, crazy, amazing son.
You inspire me everyday and remind me to focus on the good.
I love you.  And I love being your Mum.

So let's get to the making, and get crafting!

To start my layout, I've spritzed a piece of while Core'dinations cardstock with gold.

I've heat embossed my chipboard title using my Couture Creations Heat Tool, and adhered to the bottom left corner of my layout.

To tie with the gold of my spritz and embossing, I've chosen papers from the Hearts Ease Collection that had fairly neutral patterns.  One of my favourite papers from this range is Pansy Tune .  I love the sheet music in the background.  And it's so versatile!
I've mounted my edited photo of two Hearts Ease papers and some more white Core'dinations cardstock.  I've inked around the edges of the largest mat with gold ink and adhered to the background cardstock with 12mm Foam Mounting Tape

Couture has some gorgeous borders dies, and I particularly love these 2 from the Amaryllis Ornamental Lace Die Collection - Simone's Style.  They remind me of old time Art Deco
buildings and 1920s decorative features.
I've cut 2 of the border dies (the bottom of the two pictured) and used them as a border to frame my photo top and bottom.  I've adhered them using 3mm doubled sided tape - it's extra thin so perfect for adhering intricate and tiny cuts.

I've also added Sparkling Champagne Gemstones along the border.

I love flourishes - and if you die cut your own, you can make them suit what ever colours your project needs!  I've cut 6 of the Tall Flourish from the Secret Garden Intricutz Die range and layered them down the left hand side of my layout.  They are so detailed and intricate & when cut with the
Quick Release Die Paper, come out perfectly.
Seeing as I'm adding flowers on the top,  you don't have to be too worried about where the die cuts are placed.  Just play around until you are happy with the flow of the flourishes.

Couture Creations has brought out so many pretty new flowers this year, I couldn't decide which one to use - so 3 different ones it was!  And to give some sparkle to the flowers I've rubbed Aztec Gold Glitzin' Glamour over the top.

Once dry, I've adhered the flowers on the left hand side of the photo, on top of the black flourishes.
To give the flowers some height, I've used 3D Glue spots.

And we're done!
Here are some close-ups of the details.
